Expanded Monday Classes for 2014...

Drawing for Painters

 

Artist and Art Instructor Fred Hope is now offering two sessions of his unique Monday art class: Drawing for Painters, starting in January 2014. These popular weekly classes will be identical in structure and practice, and will be limited to 6-7 students so that indi- vidual instruction may be utilized. After classes are filled, a wait-list will be maintained.

Monday morning class hours: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Beginning Monday, January 6, 2014) Monday afternoon class hours: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Ongoing)

Curriculum: This class develops and expands drawing skills that are directly linked to improvement in painting. Attendees will be working from a variety of sources, concen- trating on the uses of drawing in the preparation and improvement of painted works. Demonstrations, discussion, examples, and constructive critiques will be featured. Exer- cises for home studio work will be suggested and demonstrated. A list of drawing materi- als and tools will be made available upon enrollment in the class.

Painting exercises will be accomplished, based on the drawings. Oils are the preferred painting medium, but other mediums (Acrylic, Pastels, Watercolor, Etc.) may be utilized as well. The class will also cover composition, design and the search for the artist's unique style or "voice" through drawing and painting.

Classes are held in the Laguna Canyon Studios, 3251 Laguna Canyon Road, Studio F, Laguna Beach, CA 92651. Classes are ongoing, and are most economical if purchased in blocks of 10 for $450. Single classes may be purchased (Drop-in) for $60. Checks are preferred, however credit cards will be accepted.

At the Instructor’s discretion, credit for missed classes may be transferred to future or same-day classes, to allow for unforeseen emergency absences.
